Yeah, it'll only change when a Korean or two goes to study in Europe. ESL and Blizzard need to work out their objectives. If they want to support this regions talent and interest in their tournament, maybe they need to think a bit more about advantage for those players..

Such as, games are played only on that regions servers. Or that dual citizenship holders can only use the citizenship of their residency. If they are in Australia, play for Australia, if you're in europe, okay for Europe. Something must be done.

Did you read our comment on the subject? https://pro.eslgaming.com/tour/2020/07/starcraft-ll-update-season-1-evaluation/ … Adjusting the policy will screw over a lot of players, we aren't interested in that.

Why is it possible for all 3 matches to be played on Singapore vs Risky for example then, when he can just choose this random sub-region of SWA when he is representing AU / NZ? How is that not having home players being forced on ping disadvantage?

My understanding is that playing on Singapore is worse for Risky than it is for someone in AU/NZ, therefore advantage is maintained. Is that incorrect?

It is incorrect. There is cable damage between Australia and Singapore. Many players here experience huge ping spikes (1000ms) and unstable connection. Some have better ping to NA. Aus vs Risky would probably best be played on NA server.

We've had this issue for some time. Some ISPs are fine, most have very unstable ping to Singapore.

Understood, obviously if we accept someone from the UK to play, we aren't going to force them to play on AUS servers (400 ping vs 40) so we'll look for a "fair" middle ground w/ no disadvantage to home players. If this isn't the case w/ Singapore, I'll chat with the team.

For season finals/ cross region tournaments I understand the need for a "fair" middle ground. This however is a regional qualifier. I don't understand why there needs to be any accommodations for players that choose to play in a regional qualifier from the other side of the world

its also worth noting that it doesnt work this way in other regions, for example in NEA(kr) vs NAW(us west) . if this was played in the global finals it would be KR-uswest-KR. but in the regional event it would be uswest-uswest-uswest. = you dont try for fair middle ground here
