People always jump to this "get a lawyer if you have a real issue" and "make sure it's in the contract" - but that's a huge financial and time consuming strain. For any deal that isn't a crazy anount of money I'd always much rather shake hands with someone in plain english.
If you've got it in a written email agreement where you both clearly agree on terms it's enforcable across Australia i believe. The whole point though is that of you're doing an agreement below a certain $ amount it doesn't become worth your time to tick every legal loophole

If you work with lots of small agreements or are a pro player getting paid some small amount per month there shouldn't need to be a 30 page contract and lawyers involved
