I mean like personal memoirs, more fact-based literature or hard statistics sort of thing?
Memoirs and other story focused stuff probly the most, though any easy reading history could be cool too

Some awesome biographies that are must-reads, even if not history interested. Storm of Steel by Ernst Jünger - WW1 memoirs of an ordinary German Soldier serving on the Western Front. Offers a very unique, and especially time-relative perspective on total war and it's horrors.

With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge - A Pacific War veteran who served in many of the USMC's most important battles throughout WW2, it chronicles his lived experiences, on how one dehumanizes the Japanese enemy in order to survive, as well as the trauma of having survived.
