So if DMCA strikes are going onto twitch channels is there an argument to be made that the songs are part of transformative work and therefore free use? Its shocking to see so many bans rn but that's the law. Is there a fair use argument to be made though?

I got a strike from a game, not going to name names or tag them, but they claimed copyright on music of a game I was streaming, like their in game music.. it seemed silly.

this thread seems legit https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/8t356u/music_resource_music_that_will_not_get_striked/ … basically a bunch of big streamers got hit with 24 hour bans for DMCAs. Its not really up to twitch, moreso it means that a record label has started striking people.

You've never teeeechnically been allowed to stream with copyrighted music in the background, its just that today was the first really big enforcement of the rule afaik

I hadn't heard about it at all either until you mentioned it today
@CyanEsports - you've seriously got your ear to the ground on this stuff my dude. Really appreciate you being such an awesome source of news/info. I wouldn't have known otherwise. -
Looks like one of the labels just started aggressively flagging in the last 12 hours
