For the last year or so I've had way too many ideas about what I want to focus on in my free time, programming-wise, and as a result have done almost nothing. This was great because I was dealing with a lot of stuff personally and didn't really have the energy for outside study.

Anyway instead of just waffling about what I want to focus on because everything seems equally interesting, I think I'm just gonna pick one thing and do it, knowing I can do the next thing when the first thing is done.

Also I don't have to be the best at anything, I don't have to do anything other than study the thing I'm interested in. Somehow I just realized I can do something privately just for me and not talk about it on the internet too much.

You can also put stuff on the internet in case someone happens upon it (or you want to share it without too much hassle) and not promote it. Or keep it private. I do both and they're great ways to flex.
