Podcasts are the answer to the question "what if you could have an audiobook, but less interesting and with a lot of filler?"
-

"You just haven't found the right one yet" is an argument people have advanced to me with regards to drinking alcohol and heterosexuality, so I'm automatically suspicious.
-
The phrasing there wasn't exactly right
The podcasts I enjoy are timely (thus wouldn't make good audiobooks) but are still deep, like if you got to have dinner with the person or people doing the podcast.
Stuff like 538's team discussions or Recode's Too Embarrassed to Ask. -
I followed up that glib initial comment with some of the podcasts I listen to:https://twitter.com/wycats/status/987722243072405504?s=19 …

@replyall and jockopodcast are a few that are super interesting and not software related. -
I can second Reply All by
@Gimletmedia. I listen to@voxdotcom's Weeds pretty regularly on the bus home from work, and the various "daily wrapup" podcasts (including Today, Explained by@voxdotcom) are much better than watching the nightly news. -
I also listen to
@joshtpm's "The Josh Marshall Podcast", because I'm a fan of Talking Points Memo and their model of running a journalism business. If you like any TV shows, there might be a good podcast about it. I listen to Crazy Ex Girlfans (about the amazing@CW_CrazyXGF) -
Also, for tech happenings, I prefer Recode, Decode with
@karaswisher and Vergecast hosted by@reckless. This is mostly video content but everything by@feministabulous is great. -
-
Other stuff I listen to enough to have saved on
@Stitcher: The Ezra Klein Show with@ezraklein FiveThirtyEight Politics New York Times The Daily Too Embarrassed to Ask with@karaswisher and other@Recode team members Amicus with@Dahlialithwick Code Newbie with@saronyitbarek -
I don't listen to every episode of all of these of course, but I think they're great and listen when I can. I have a long bus commute most days, so my situation might be different from other people.
