After 6 months of using Ember, here are my thoughts on the framework:https://medium.com/@Realrobwebb/my-first-6-months-using-ember-a-retrospective-a5ecf3259b09 …
We could try it at @tildeio too, if you think it's ready to test

Out of curiosity, why don't these build errors end up in the browser (I usually see build errors there)?
-
Ya, for normal ember-cli usage. Error messages like this are displayed in the browser. But I have seen some folks (I believe the best folks) build with ember-cli, but have their rails app serve...

This is due to us not writing the error page to disk, but serving it via an express middleware.
-
Interesting! Could we save it to disk to fix this?
-
(it also implies we might not want the growl thing on by default after all)
-
I don’t know. Most scenarios like this I have seen, they don’t serve the index.html produced by cli. Rather the import bits of index.html are hard coded to a rails template
-
The growl thing, I think may be handy. Especially if it also surfaces other info, such as test run results. The risk I see, is potentially lots of noise.

Just confirmed its good to test. https://github.com/pdud/ember-cli-build-notifications/pull/18 … + fix buss factor issue, will have to resolve before we could consider it a default.
-
That addon is part of the standard kit at
@Yapp. I honesty can’t live without it. I turn on all notifications. It eliminates the “did livereload stop working?” question and subsequent unnecessary page refreshes. -
So that is with both failed and successful build notifications? I was thinking just displaying buildErrors. But this makes a compelling case for both
-
Yeah. Just the errors is super helpful on its own, but both error and success eliminate a whole slew of guessing. Also, my favorite feature is when it tells me the rebuild took NaN seconds.
-
Lol. Looks like a bug to fix. Do you have any cycles to propose an RFC to get this added by default? It may take me sometime to have the free cycles. I could use the help :)
-
Challenge accepted! Who could ask for a better first RFC.pic.twitter.com/q8e9o6HZWu

I’ll confirm the add on is in working order shortly.
