I'm glad this is happening. The fact of the matter is that standards codify reality, and reality means what is actually shipping in actual browsers. Bottom line: The W3C has lost the moral authority on this long ago, and it was only a matter of time until the WHATWG got its IP story enough in order for the web browsers to cut themselves loose from the bureaucracy and misplaced priorities of the W3C.
