For what it's worth, "I think windows is objectively terrible" isn't a good explanation for not wanting to support 1/2 of all existing devs and a bigger proportion of not-yet-developers. It's also not true, but that's a topic for another discussion.

It's not the developer's fault that windows has terrible support across the board for things. For instance, I setup docker on mac and linux, can bring up my project instantly. Install it in windows, find out there's issues with file syncing. It's a pain to develop on :/

So it’s Windows’ fault that Docker doesn’t work well? I don’t get it. If software X doesn’t work why is it OS’s fault? Why isn’t it the software’s fault?

If the OS is hard to work with I don’t see why that’s the developer’s fault. It’s not anyone’s responsibility to support every OS I guess I’m trying to say.

As a person who has written low level code for both Windows, OSX, Linux and BSDs, I don't think the difference in difficulty between Windows and other operating systems justifies the lack of effort. For example, signals on OSX are stuck in the dark ages. People cope.
