For what it's worth, "I think windows is objectively terrible" isn't a good explanation for not wanting to support 1/2 of all existing devs and a bigger proportion of not-yet-developers. It's also not true, but that's a topic for another discussion.
That's valid skepticism but I don't think we should abandon Windows users just because we don't like MS practices.

they chose a non dev friendly OS to start with, but they're lucky enough they can easily use numerous Linux alternatives. On the other hand, why would I buy an MS license to support them? I can use VirtualBox for browsers tests but that's how far I can go from other OSes
