@rwjblue @Runspired @wycats any thoughts on https://discuss.emberjs.com/t/requestanimationframe-based-rendering/14284 … ?
It wouldn't be too hard to patch backburner to try these things out.

yep will explain on https://discuss.emberjs.com/t/requestanimationframe-based-rendering/14284 … ... the real cool thing these days is that we can use user theme components in Discourse for the experiments

I've been discussing with
@stefanpenner the possibility that postMessage (asap) + RAF is better than microtasks / just RAF for render flush when requestIdleCallback + RAF isn't present. Doing some research and working on an example still. -
This little example here was very enlightening to me, you can run it yourself as well,https://discuss.emberjs.com/t/requestanimationframe-based-rendering/14284/3?u=sam …

So one thing to remember is that you can't execute a new task mid-callstack. Some of the delay you are seeing there might just be bc something else on the stack took 15/20/50/150ms etc. But yes, do not ever count on setTimeout for a specific deadline.
-
totally, but once you throttle CPU and run the profiler you can actually see the computer sitting there doing nothing on lots of these "extra" delays, Something is not quite right with the Chrome algorithm / cc
@paul_irish -
good call. just looked into it. posted what i found on the thread:https://discuss.emberjs.com/t/requestanimationframe-based-rendering/14284/5?u=paulirish …

The user timing in profiler sure is mighty cool!
