In principle you’re right but as soon as that css 404s you’re back to needing to know about link tags. Compilers are a lot less leaky.

There's lots of toolkits that get the CSS in there for you. I can't remember the last time my Ember app failed, forcing me to dig into why a CSS file didn't load.
