Well, in a business environment in german you can't get around "Sehr geehrter Herr..." / "Sehr geehrte Frau...". It's not that I like it, but I can't imagine how change the system alone. Things like this are usually a marketing decision. And I'm totally ok with a "Hi Lux" btw.

Could you ask people how they would like to be formally greeted? (Kind of the opposite of the nickname problem)

I've just read the blog post about skylight and I really like the solution. I agree, a good combination of questions and suggestions probably can do the trick. Now we just need this in all backend systems, ERPs CRMs and so on. Oh, and probably the questions need to be localized.
