TC39 is recommending that JS programmers use semicolons at the end of statements in code, rather than relying on ASI.https://github.com/tc39/ecma262/pull/1062 …

Because @standardjs among others enforces safe & cleaner low-semicolon style.

As long as your team is using @standardjs with up to date rules, they can feel free to ignore the recommendation. The recommendation is a good default for people who aren't thinking about what this need to do to mitigate the hazards. For @standardjs users, live free or die.

Doesn't it seem more important, if the committee is going to start making recommendations, to recommend using a parsing linter if not a compiler?

From TC39's perspective, it does not make sense for us to recommend a JavaScript style that requires using a linting tool.

Because you are doing something akin to creating an "attractive nuisance" and dodging the obligate not facultative nature of parsing linters in modern, at-scale, multi-person or even large-enough-single-person JS development.

I'm asking whether, as a TC39 member, you dissent from this language or object to us including it.

He really was clear enough. Destroying the beauty of the language (I switched just since October 2017!) for the sake of new language features. Guys, you have to take a break. I like ES2015+ in Chrome, Safari, FF, and Edge NOW. Just take a break for 10 years and go to hell!
