Conservatives: - believe that companies should be able to do what they want in hiring. For example, a Christian company receiving federal grants should be allowed to discriminate. - think it's an outrage that a company with progressive values fired someone who challenged them.

Libertarians: 1. End those subsidies/grants (after all, it is private property forcibly taken by street-level members of a well-organized gang) 2. Both the groups you mentioned should be able to hire/fire who they want, and should never receive any special government benefits.

Consistency is overrated, especially when it comes to libertarianism. I'd prefer a messy reality with at-times inconsistent laws to the anarchist hell-hole libertarians want.

I think it's usually not too hard to find some way to define your values consistently. Messy reality usually make them a little more complicated than "coercion bad. freedom good" though.
