Read this article with quotes from Ben Galbraith about how seriously Google claims to take the open web.
@dalmaer is there any chance we're going to get some concrete action? Like maybe a commitment to stop shipping chrome only sites?

We've honestly heard this song and dance about how seriously Google takes things and how it's just an unfortunate coincidence that this or that Google product ships as chrome only. Any chance we'll see more than talk in 2018?

Hey sir! I am hopeful that you will see a lot of action that shows how much we care about the open web in 2018. I know that there is a difference between the work that you see from individual Googlers, the Chrome team, Web DevRel folk, and other teams at times wrt this issue.

I hope it doesn't seem like I'm carelessly conflating those groups. I know a lot of people inside Google care, and those are the people who get quoted as saying they care! But leadership seems cool with "Chrome only" products. Can that change?

Developers definitely care about cross browser. Sometimes due to time constraints they have launched projects Chrome only because that's the only thing they (initially) tested. A lot of this is due to developer infrastructure and has nothing to do with wanting Chrome only.

Not saying these are good reasons. But I can guarantee there is no ill intent or secret plans to be Chrome only.

Nobody thinks it's an order from the top. But it happens a lot and it seems like nobody's too torn up about it. What we're asking for is a directive to *stop* doing it.
