I made a lot of progress on getting `ember-glimmer` to work without jQuery this week personally, but managed to break some tests *with* jQuery. Yikes! The above quest issue includes instructions for helping to get things passing again.

Interestingly, Ember itself mostly already works without jQuery (Glimmer took care of that for the most part) but Ember's test suite is full of gratuitous uses of jQuery. This quest is about cleaning those up. Plz send halp!

The list was damn near completely taken when I finally had a chance to sit down and read it!

sounds exciting! I don’t get the hate for $ but I’m all for smaller bundles..

This just allows people to use Ember without jQuery if they want, it doesn't express an opinion about whether any particular app should use jQuery or not. :)

@eaf4 how viable would it be to do something similar for liquid-fire? -
LF doesn't need it for anything significant, but we leak it into the API of custom transitions (similar to how this.$() leaks it into components).
-
can we deprecate it in some way or make it optional?
-
I'm planning a quest issue that explains how to integrate ember-animated into liquid-fire. That will have the side effect of deprecating jquery, because ember-animated already has a better API for custom transitions that doesn't use it.
