It's disconcerting to hear that some at TC39 are pushing back against decorators. @BrendanEich please tell me these rumors are unfounded nonsense. The major projects using decorators is endless, as is the pain of this feature being forever in limbo.

something something ruling from the chair.

A lot of new people have entered the committee since decorators were first proposed. Not everyone comes from a JS ecosystem background--many implementers come from a systems programming background. I think a refresher of use cases and position in the ecosystem would be helpful.
-
It seems terribly presumptuous and arrogant that this has to halt so newcomers can get a refresher course. Are new committee members really not expected to read up on this stuff before showing up?
-
Let us all take a moment. I do not believe newcomers involved. There may be a process foul in progress. More next week. In meanwhile don’t treat TC39 as a group mind. It isn’t!
-
I don't think there's a cause for concern; I just started an email thread a few days ago asking if anyone would be interested in giving an overall decorators motivation presentation parallel to mine about spec details. Then, we could ask for Stage 3 reviewers.
-
I think if we're committed to asking for Stage 3 reviewers in January, we're in good shape. If we need to have another debate about the motivation for some reason, let's just get it over with so we can move on. I appreciate
@littledan's effort at cat-herding here.
