Who will get there first? Apple having full support for PWAs or android moving to ONE good messaging app (that I can use with non android users). That will decide which phone I get next. I already will not buy a new Mac.https://twitter.com/richardiii/status/946095829495906304 …

My experience: pixel had a default messaging app. No way to use it on desktop. Install hangouts so I can have both. Make it default. Media woul still be sent to that first app, text to hangouts. Same with trying to send media, only that first app.

Getting sick of that UX, I try to make that first messaging app default. Never could get normal texts back in that app.

I'm trying to understand why Telegram doesn't serve your needs (since you already said it has to work outside of Android)

So this forces other users to join also? At least on iOS it seems.

Don't all chat systems "force" people to join in order to use them? Or are you looking for something that purely works as an optional SMS++?

Its been a while but I dont remember having to "sign up" for signal (
@whispersystems). just put in your phone number. linking the desktop app to your phones signal is as simple as scanning a qr code. I think they have apps on every platform. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Telegram basically works the same way. But I think @richardiii considers "signing up via a phone number" to be a force sign-up?
