Curious to hear what part of Netflix you guys use Rails for?

We use Rails (and Ember) to make the process of creating original series/films 10x more efficient. Thanks for all the work you do on Rails!

Someone told me recently that they were surprised at how many hiring companies still use Rails. The HN/SV mindset that "Rails is dying" has deeply confused a lot of working devs about what skills are valuable in the job market.

I think it’s probably just less people talking about Rails because they’re too busy getting a ton of actual work done.

Yeah, there's more buzz around new things than established, well known things. Buzz != usage

"omfg look at this sick thing I did hashtag data science hashtag webscale" "so are you using that in your day job?" "hell no we build bank software" - everybody, probably. Still cool that you did the thing, doesn't detract from it, but CRUD still important.

"allowing users to query and modify a database from a website" is unsurprisingly still a very common use case. :p
