Zero config does not have to mean: impossible to configure/extend. It can mean: super defaults with a sensible and obvious override/extension strategy.

But that takes time to do right and the tool can be useful in the meantime. It doesn’t bother me when these “zero-config” projects start locked down and progressively open up. Prettier followed this path.

Agreed, that's what it *should* mean, but it's tough to tell if that's true for a tool with 2 words, not that convention over configuration" answers that question much better. Ezample: CRA is zero config, but not extensible whereas Neutrino or Parcel are.

In Neutrino we opted for the phrase "zero initial config" to be clear that you don't have to config to start, but extensibility is possible. Language is hard
