agree. there's a place for it sometimes, but it should not be the default. I've created lint rules to disallow it in most cases.

Also, with `eslint --fix` you can write them if you find them faster to write (I do), and then they go into source control in the more clear way :)

There is a eslint rule to disable certain kinds of AST nodes https://eslint.org/docs/rules/no-restricted-syntax …, or you can use http://astexplorer.net/ to build your own (or a codemod)
