This is the closest experience I’ve ever had to the Zuckerberg VC pitch from The Social Network. Except in our case nobody threw money at us, they just kind of laughed.pic.twitter.com/RwV97Tf3Nn

“So what’s the business case for a completely private cryptocurrency?” Um.
So how did you find the investors interested in backing you? And what convinced them?
We kept having meetings where cryptocurrency people said “I don’t know if this is a good business idea, but I love it so here’s $100k”. Enough of those and we were good.
I remember one meeting with some guys at Coinbase’s office where I raised against their business and the lack of privacy in Bitcoin. Then Zooko said “did you know those were the founders? That was brave.” And I was like “uh....”
Was that fair though? They've done so much to bring bitcoin to where it is today, & its not an easy position to be them I imagine
And what specifically did you not like about their business?
I don’t remember. I started by saying that Bitcoin was going to fail because it was too traceable, and that would ultimately devolve to be no better than a centralized bank/exchange. I was very tired.
You don't sound wrong here. Bitcoin has bad privacy properties and its only hope for scalability, Lightning, sounds like it will evolve into centralized Visa/Mastercard-like hubs. On top of a centralized mining ecosystem... what was this all for again?
Something something government fiat printing money pry my bitcoins from my cold dead hands inflating the money supply is by definition inflation the government is lying to you the dollar is going to crash any day now reserve currency china audit the fed supply and demand
You forgot #ronpaul2012
I ran out of space even with 280 chars. But that's a good one!
