I honestly want to know the types who participate in these surveys. I don’t. I don’t find them helpful to the oss community, even when I agree. This is fud to send to managers.

If it could be established that these numbers really are a representative sample of devs, knowing how many people used X, and would, or would not use it again would definitely be a useful data point imo.

To put in perspective how off this chart is, almost as many devs use ember at PlayStation who answered uses it. Same with ember conf. Had both answered this survey, it would paint a different picture.

This also doesn’t show by ember existing, how their ideas made it into other frameworks (and vise-versa)

Aka importance is not shown. Just a popularity contest

Imagine being Tom or wycats and seeing these numbers. It does let us all learn something, but it’s not a fully accurate picture. Makes their job way harder.

I guess I should have realized how widely used Ember is - no way the chart was representative

It doesn’t even align with my favorite x tools, just an observer. I lean towards the picture the poll shows even, but I don’t think most of my company agrees. I also attended ember conf. Bunch of love there. Had they all voted, this would be so different.

From my perspective, the "knows about Ember but isn't interesting" bar is a way more important bar to target than the handful of people in the survey who say they used Ember and for sure won't use it again.

In part because even the people who say they won't use Ember again are likely persuadable if things get good enough that we can persuade the people who currently just aren't interested.

Yeah I regret even writing that reply way above. As was pointed out, that chart was horribly unrepresentative of Ember's reach.
