Effectiveness. Basecamp can be extremely effective for an organization even if it’s only used a few times per week. Maximizing “time spent on BC” is almost an anti-measure.

What value is exchanged during the check in? How is their life/job improved through that time investment?

For Basecamp, those emails often negate the need for someone to visit the app. All the value they needed was summarized in an email.

Yes, very much same with Skylight. But not always. If an endpoint got way slower, you're gonna wanna dig in and figure out why. I don't think it's dark to provide emails that have that effect if you're not playing a game with your users.

Totally. You are delivering value. The purpose is to help people know when their app is slow. Even if they DIDNT visit the app, but just fixed problem, you would be effective.
