Availability bias is a problem regardless of where you're sampling from. Most people exhibiting a particular benign behavior aren't the same as most bad people exhibiting that behavior. Thinking otherwise means you spend too much time banning video games.

That is simplistic, and leave video games out of it. Status preening via virtue signaling is under strong selection in certain social media & academic circles, with good predictive power in my experience.
