But for my family’s lock-in to the App Store I’d be on the Pixel. Had one last year and loved it

Does Movies Anywhere change the calculus at all? (It does for me)
-
We still buy our music (gasp!) and movies (Hadn't heard of Movies Anywhere but will check it out)
-
When you buy music (especially from Apple), don't you get DRM-free tracks?
-
More complicated than that. It's the ability for my daughter to buy something and for me to later go into the purchase history and download it through the Store
-
You'd have to switch to Google Play Music, but you could do a one-time import and still have the soft-stockholm features.
-
Since Google stuff works great on iPhone, what I did (a few years ago) was first transition to Google ecosystem, then to Android when done.

I’m interested in a phone with pixel hardware and not android software. Got any of those?
-
No, and it's unrelated to what I was saying ;) The Pixel is in large part viable because of tight integration between the HW design and software tricks (machine learning + camera, for instance)

I'll keep this in mind when I get my next phone. I don't plan on buying any more Apple products.

Google issued Android phones and tablets have always been very polished and amazing to use. Almost tempted to switch.
