I switched to Windows 18 months ago and continue to be happy. Only complaint is devs gratuitously ignoring windows support.

Tried cloning a repo today on W10. Broke on both cmd and bash. Mac works fine. Probably something to do with the path.

Dozens of git repos cloned on my windows machine... Maybe you shd share your error? %PATH% on windows can be tricky, but did get better w/10

oh fun, you might be exceeding the maximum path allowed by git for windows(probably 260 char).

Windows doesn't care anymore (37k is the new limit) but some older binaries still crap out- constant problem on windows build servers.

I think `:` might he a reserved character? Not that weird, Unix reserves `.` and `/`
