Rolling this out was a disaster of a call, and is a perfect example of what people mean by Google’s arrogance.
So many authors were pleading against this, including myself, to as many googlers as I knew. But full speed ahead because THE WEB IS DYING!!
The thing that is/was horrifying about this is that @RickByers didn’t even have good numbers on what % of sites subtly broke.
“We haven’t gotten any complaints from Android beta users” is not the right metric to use when it comes to web compat.
It is an incredibly bad metric, as most users would sooner blame a website for buggy behavior than the browser.
This is not the first time either. I have never once succeeded at begging Google to slow down. WICG is open washing.
