Pixel sells out: "This shows that Google struggles run a serious phone division" iPhone sells out: "This shows the incredibly demand"
-

Struggling for two months due to ridiculous demand cycle is very different than struggling year round.
-
My experience with iPhone launches has consistently been that I can order and get one in under a week by late November / Early December.
-
We'll see what happens with the pixel 2. My point was that extrapolating from prelaunch is speculation dressed up as journalism.
-
Because every phone gets sold out during preorder. In a couple of months we may well learn that Google has year long struggles ...
-
That would be a good and interesting story! Instead we're getting preconceived notions poured into identical empirical data.

i mean the speculation is a bit premature sure but apple has already sold more iphone x's than google has *ever* sold pixels

source: 1 millionish pixels last year https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/14/15801242/google-1-million-pixel-phones-maybe … versus 2 millionish iphones x in octoberhttps://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/Uncertainties-for-iPhone-X-production-over-3-D-sensor-issues …
-
Of course there are more iPhones sold than Pixels. I don't think that justifies the starkly different reporting.
-
But also, that speculation about units sold is probably wrong:https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.androidcentral.com/how-many-google-pixels-have-actually-sold-their-debut%3famp …
