Interop would be done in either componentDidUpdate or componentWillUpdate; Heard mixed signals about which one to use :P

Wouldn't third party interop be entirely in post-DOM hooks?

I think
@ryanflorence is the only one who truly knows when to use cWRP :) iirc it's to "prep" (3rd party) stuff for update.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

I use it when I have to cache values into state based on props, which I try not to do very often. 3rd party interop I do in cDU.

That's what I had in mind. cDM and cDU.

for any Ember users following along, we call those hooks didInsertElement and didUpdate. The didRender hook runs in both situations.

I get the impression if I stay out of Ember *another* 3 years, the api will evolve further to just about match React 100% :P

I know you're joking but React isn't perfect and I applaud other efforts to improve on deficiencies/confusions

React specifically may not be the final answer, but I believe strongly something very similar to React will be. Components ftw!

React did a great job of improving on Backbone-Angular-Ember era "views". Ember did a halfway job with 1.0-era components.

React helped us find our way. Check this out: https://github.com/emberjs/rfcs/blob/master/text/0015-the-road-to-ember-2-0.md#learning-from-the-community … (and also the date on it ;) )
