Leave a webpack project alone for 6 months and get it to run on a new machine. Leave some vanilla js alone for 6 years, it runs everywhere

Problem is lack of focus on backwards compatibility, making it fragile. Fragile things might work today, but they will not last for long

There isn't even enough of a documented API for compat to make sense.

Learning something like Webpack is great for job security. If you manage to make it work almost the way you want you're hailed as a genius.
