That seems like a totally unnecessary mandatory lint...
I think mandatory lint can be good for real confusing points (e.g. unintentionally global "event"). Not for style rules.
i also think there's a big difference to failing a CI build (ie, preventing merging to master) and failing a local build
Yeah, but I think style is probably not a good default even for CI, especially for an "incrementally adoptable" framework.

Incrementally adoptable means assume less about what the user can or wants to do. Maybe they already have a house JS style, e.g.
