I scattered 40+ CS students around @Mozilla to contrib and fix bugs. So far @rustlang and @FirefoxDevTools have been most welcoming/helpful.

Definitely related. Low barrier to entry on GitHub makes upgrading to mentoring easier.

Heretical but shouldn't be: "bug dependencies" is a much less important feature in a bug tracker than people think it is.

I'll mention that Rusts mentoring is mostly based off of servo's, which is based off of Firefox's, so it's not anything new.

So I too believe that GH is a major factor here. Basically, having a not-complex contribution pipeline.
