It is lawyer repellant. If one is a small startup or indie team, use it. At scale where lawyers look, they will veto. Intentional outcome?

Depends on what 'plan B' is. Using a different library that implements same features as React may be no "safer" (patent-wise)

Depends on what acquiring company's lawyers think. Also, plan B is to apply enough pressure to get things changed ;)
