It is terrible that software patents exist. We should end them. Until then, using React is probably less dangerous than any alternatives.

The issue isn't whether using React is dangerous. It's whether it's appropriate to encourage this kind of behavior from Facebook.

Devs at big companies should ask their lawyer. Devs at small companies or OSS should consider the community implications.

No categorical right/wrong good/bad here. Considerations vary for each co., dev, project. As any lawyer can tell you, "it depends..."

Dunno. I think tone of the article is clear that it's raising issues ("3 Points to Consider...") not advising X or Y.

You might think that you're giving sound legal advice, and I think that's probably true, but it's certainly legal advice.
