In case it wasn't *perfectly* clear: My goal is to get Facebook to switch to Apache not to discourage use of React.https://twitter.com/mjackson/status/909444287452114944 …

I don't think you're a concern troll but some angry people in your replies may suspect you are cause you kind of sound like one here.pic.twitter.com/G1DQozG7Hz

I don't think anyone's confused into believing that I'm a React supporter. I am, however, a fan of good OSS licenses.
-
Also, I know what a concern troll is, and saying I sound like one here basically means you can never be against bad tactics from other side.
-
At *some* point we're all on the same side and pointing out when your competitor is going beyond agreed-on shared values seems ok.
-
maybe you should amend your blog post saying that you're a competitor then for intellectual honesty.
-
just a small disclaimer on top I think, that's what I would do if I was to warn other people of the danger of using a competitor's product.

I'm honestly wondering if people would be defending the license so much had it been MS or even someone like Oracle.
-
Assuredly not. For some reason people really really like Facebook. It's kind of similar to Google a few years back I think.

It's important to nip this in the bud lest it become a new front in the battles big tech companies are constantly waging against each other.
-
Open source is about sharing because you have been shared with. Facebook would not exist were it not for open source tech they've used.
-
They forget themselves and their history. They aren't doing us a favor by releasing OSS. They are repaying a debt.
-
Ultimately what they are doing is unethical. A violation of the spirit of tech's open source ethos.
