In general, I think that specific-contributor clauses in OSS IP licenses are a violation of the spirit of the definition of OSS.

It's just inappropriately unilateral. If you're trying to reduce patent lawsuits in general, you want to stop Facebook too.

The only reason Facebook isn't included is that it's a grant of Facebook patents written by Facebook lawyers.

A project like React ought to have granted you the rights to OTHER contributor patents and therefore limited Facebook's ability to sue.
