http://yehudakatz.com/2017/09/16/facebook-patent-clause-protects-facebook-not-you/ … The Facbook patent clause punishes you for suing Facebook, but lets them sue you. Apache is better.

You are correct re: mechanics of licenses but overlook that FB is a huge litigation target. ASF isn't.
-
One could argue litigation playing field is tilted against FB (constant patent threats) and PATENTS is a small way to mitigate this risk
-
Right. As I said, everyone agree that PATENTS is about protecting Facebook, not you. Using React is just participating in a racket.
-
People like React so they think they like Facebook. No reason to help them set up a corporate moat that has nothing to do with OSS.
-
To tone it down a bit, the playing field may be tilted against react from the perspective Google, but where's the little guy in all this?
-
Little guy should recognize that he may be no better off avoiding React. Something I wrote explaining why:https://blog.cloudboost.io/3-points-to-consider-before-migrating-away-from-react-because-of-facebooks-bsd-patent-license-b4a32562d268 …
-
It's less about avoiding react and more about the possibility of somehow getting ensnared in a proxy war. I'm personally less concerned...
-
...about the impact of individual decisions and more concerned about whether the community should consider this acceptable policy.

What should happen when they sue? I mean, they granted a licence, not the other way around. They can't do more than to let you keep it.
