You will be hit with a countersuit and then the court will determine what happens depending on strength of both portfolios (or settle).

Which is exactly what happens if you don’t use React too, or do this with any other major company.

right, but my point is that (to this neutral third party) the patents clause looks like wearing shin pads to avoid getting hit in the face

My understanding is that if I, the CEO of Trolls Inc, want to sue FB, then I'm free to do so as long as I don't use React

i.e. the clause protects FB from React-using trolls (the shinkickers in the analogy) but not everyone else (the facepunchers)

So my understanding of the PATENTS clause in react is that it's a revokable license to the patents specifically for technology in react.

But why I can't seem to find in any of the writing on this subject is what specific patents are being licensed.

^ What patents does Facebook hold or are any pending that cover React?

There's a big big list of patents that FB has that could plausibly apply to React.

Out of curiosity, @sebmarkbage, is Facebook willing to disclose the list of its patents that the React patent grant applies to?

I thought the issue was that if you sue Facebook over *any* patent you lose the license to use react. Did I misunderstand?
