When I'm back at my computer I'll show you the "download data and render Dom" patent from some random dead Dutch company

It is also frustrating that the policy is inconsistent wrt React and other OSS projects from Facebook that don't have the clause.
-
A lot of the FB OSS that doesn’t have the clause seems to have been created before the clause or outside of FB and absorbed/hired in
-
Exception? I was more thinking Redux and Babel which are widely seen as maintained by FB
-
Exception, but why?
-
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I haven’t worked with the yarn team and don’t know the legal situation on how they chose licensing?
-
Some public facts: - Yarn was created while its main contributors were at FB - it's not under facebook/ on GH - it doesn't have PATENTS
-
I know these I’m saying that I’m unaware of why it was treated differently than other projects where main contribs worked for FB @ the start

Correction: *everyone that actually does open source software in this space. I'd love to see rationales from those that don't.
-
Everyone else does Apache. Which protects all contributors not just Facebook.
-
I haven't heard about the contributor angle before. The issue with Apache is that it's scoped to the project. Useless against portfolios.
-
The main issue with PATENTS imo is that is special cases "Facebook" rather than being about contributors and users.
-
I'll ask around about that.
-
That would be amazing. I'm not sure how I failed to get that across in the past. Sorry

-
I'm sorry I didn't even consider that angle. There has been so many other angles to cover.

Yeah I get that and it'd be a lot easier if this wasn't the case. But value of React >>>>>>>>>>>> downsides of license for most ppl
-
The hysteria is the level of risk people think this is. It is 0 for 99.999% of companies.
-
It's such a weird thing for a company to do (vs Apache) that people are weirded out by it.

Side note to included @: “hysteria” is a foundationally misogynist word and maybe “FUD” or something else less loaded is applicable?
