I wish more companies did interviews like @tildeio: a mix of developers pair program with the candidate for a few hours on a current problem

I really like that approach. I sometimes fear that a coding interview will leave me feeling that I'm hardly able to find the power switch.

Yeah. We also make sure the candidate gets to pair with a mix of ppl so we can see if they work well with various skill levels.

It's especially important to us that less experienced developers don't feel overwhelmed.
