What's your worst tech interview experience? (RTs welcome)

This sounds like a quick fix but let's add in convos about inevitable human biases too the mix. What if someone codes differently then you?

What if someone needs extra tooling to code Bc they have some kind of disability?

I'm not saying 'you're doing it wrong' I'm just saying this shit is complex AF and adding pair programming doesn't make it rainbows
-
Certainly not rainbows. We always look for ways to improve the process, especially when interviewing someone with unexpected needs.
-
Pair programming works for us as an interview because the job involves a lot of collaborative (often pair) work.
-
But I would never imply that this is a silver bullet. We look very closely at the specific circumstances of individual candidates.
-
We've made a ton of tweaks over time to accommodate various requirements (personal, work-style, financial, etc)

This makes far too much sense to ever get wide adoption.
-
Except it is a nightmare for folks who have severe digital anxiety. If you paid 32-40 hours a week, it's fair play. O/w unrealistic/unfair
-
Can you elaborate on extreme digital anxiety?
-
AFAIK It's when you get really anxious if you are working at a computer and someone is looking over your shoulder at what you are doing.
-
Yes but also my phone autocorrected social to digital magically. But it's the same experience. Some people can't pair on demand with new ppl
-
Oh right. Maybe I accidentally made up a phrase

-
We paired on it

We do this in addition to a panel interview prior to pairing. I can see just doing the pairing though if we had a more structured pairing
-
A more defined pairing plan I mean
