If this is not reversed it'll go the way of Drupal - few invested individuals and companies, while WP is 25% of the web.

My experience has been different. In absence of useful information people revert to hype.
-
What kind of useful information are you thinking about.
-
For example, how to architect view/routing system. Explain what you need and why, then say this is how Ember router is atchtected.
-
"and that's why you should use react with react router!"
-
Lol. Do you want to give that talk? Maybe
@machty does

I don't mean to sound bitter. I enjoy working on these problems and helping people be productive. I just don't know how to persuade ppl.
-
You have to hit trigger points, for many less experienced devs it's essentially teaching them how to architect applications.

How do we make that the next silver bullet?
-
The target for silver bullet seems to shift with every iteration. From performance with React to ease of on-boarding with Vue.

you gave the next silver biller in the emberconf keynote...that's just not what glimmer appears to be becoming unfortunately
-
Say more.
-
To echo this, glimmer.js is neat in theory, but weird in practice. "Just components" doesn't mesh well with "can't NPM install things"
-
You immediately want to start pulling other tools off the shelf to complement these cool components, but run right into weirdness
-
I don't mean to downplay the incredible effort that has been put in, but until you can actually NPM install your way to Ember...
-
2/2 standalone glimmer feels like a strategic misplay if the goal is to meet things like Vue and React where they live
-
How so? It's a direct competitor. The issues I see right now is the rest of the ecosystem sitting around it is yet to be fleshed out.
-
Having used both React and Ember in anger, I strongly disagree that Glimmer is a direct competitor at the moment

This is so sad because Ember is actually the closest thing to an IRL silver bullet that exists when you look at the FE landscape
