I've read this. Yes pubs need to put AMP under their TLDs asap for a bunch of reasons.

You're suggesting that AMP sites on the publishers TLD get less attention in the carousel? I don't think that is right. Are you sure?

No he's wrong But that's a moot point Most traffic from AMP comes from google search results. And therefore Google will be the TLD

But more and more AMP traffic from google search goes to TLD/amp of sites.

You may well be right. Why wouldn't the sites that have a TLD AMP server not have google point to that URL rather than the google?

Google does not optimize AMP sites that way. CC'ing @wycats

I have been seeing Twitter link to the AMP version of the content on the publishers TLD. LinkedIn piggybacks off Google's CDN. 1/2

Google's the only one that counts. They're the ones who are setting the rules for content.

This is true, AMP project IS open source, but governed by Google.

It's open source but Google gets to decide which proprietary tags are allowed. Any Search questions are declared out of scope.

Proprietary? The AMP components are open. You could PR your own. I know what you mean tho, their team decides what gets in and what doesn't.

It's "open" by name only But effectively it's completely closed/proprietary And completely controlled by Google

There's really no point in arguing it's "openness" when it's not open at all (governed by anyone other than Google)

Openness is not binary. But yes, Google is the driving force and pays the engineers of the AMP project.

again. No point in arguing reality and facts. It's [effectively] closed and proprietary Arguing it's open is arguing for alternate facts

Apache license, go fork it, look at source... Can't do that with FBIA or Apple News. I'd still say AMP is more open than those. Fact.
