I wish it was more of a brainer choice. It's cargo-culted, but there's a palpable shift back to plain old setState for most interactions.

like JavaScript itself, React's near-ubiquity means that circumscribing a single "community" or tribe is a futile exercise. Lots of ways.

Amen. This is why I say "There is no React Community." Learn plain ol' React, then do what you like, you'll have fun and be productive.

My first prod React app was without Redux. It was fine. Managing state as a single source of truth at the root was key to success tho.

I stared with plain react, and have since added redux, and increasingly feel it was a mistake. Don't see a major advantage.

Just head a lot of people saying "It's clean", which usually translates to extra JS for the sake of JS IMO.
