It's harder to get around server boundaries or even region boundaries. JS modules are much better at isolation than Ruby modules.

It's just a spectrum, and there are costs to sharing and costs to isolating.

Right, and there are other options for improving social conformance. JS modules and practices are pretty good at this honestly.

Ruby's module system is more global which makes it harder. Something I'd love to see fixed.

I'd say it's more mutually agreed it's a necessary evil. We don't yet have an abstraction that allows that boundary to be arbitrary
