No basis in American history? Like nearly all of the Framers opposing income tax and it not existing for the 1st 100yrs of American history?

What do you think would be different today if we switched to a national property tax instead of an income tax? I'd be in favor.

Ugh no. Then landlords can gouge renters even more.

He subsequently said you could put more of onus on commercial property owners. Could also make the national property tax rates progressive

Doesn't work that way. Landlords don't have to reveal their tax burdens so they can mark up as much as they want.

Tax would be based on value of property which is public knowledge.

Sure, but that doesn't stop a landlord from charging more than their tax burden. Trying to take tools out of their toy box.

The matter-of-fact manner in which folks here are throwing around things they'd dictate to others, as if they're cattle to prod, is striking

So you're opposed to all taxes? Do you actually care which taxes are "constitutional" or is it something you just say to shut ppl up?

No, not all: I support community service payments via property contracts, usage fees for shared infra, and other nonviolent forms of funding

Question: what happens if someone ignores the usage fee (drives on a toll road without paying)?

They can be detained to appear before a trier of fact + jury of peers to determine whether they violated the road owner's use requirements.
