not sure that’s how it works… but the ‘boys club’ part is on target

I don't agree with either position, but they're inconsistent. "women don't like software b/c they don't like machines" is silly.

Turns out that software is about more than "machines". Building skylight involves "people" and "helping" and "talking" too.

I don't think these statements contradict. Not debating their factual accuracy but If hypothetically true - win win for tech & diversity
-
They don't necessarily contradict but what we have now is lose-lose.

Why? Pairing is becoming more popular. Companies are recognising career changers as viable candidates. Seems a step in the right direction

We have people who both believe that diversity programs violate the natural order and that we're not focused enough on people.

Well of course we do! We have people with all sorts of opinions in life. Discussing this is way too big for Twitter! It's more complicated..

Neither of these contradict each other either. I read it partially as diversity programs perhaps not targeting issues with the job itself.

And that picking one group of people to prop up means not providing the same to others & that can upset them, they should be able to say it
-
That doesn't mean I agree with it or disagree with it, but I am glad I read it. I think it's important to hear other people's views.

Just because someone understands machine logic by no means they are logical (or sensible, or even intelligent)
