1: In another thread I realized that when ppl say "higher qualified men are getting pushed aside" they have it backwards:
-
-
People might not be aware of studies like http://gender.stanford.edu/news/2014/why-does-john-get-stem-job-rather-jennifer … (or not believe them)
-
even the Geena Davis research that 33% women is perceived as 50:50 & 50% women is seen woman dominated
-
I'm learning to never underestimate the panic and distortion caused by those in power when they feel threatened.
-
I think to them, equality may honestly feel like they're losing because they do get fewer unearned rewards

"they"?
-
see my tweet about the anecdotal and pseudoscience. Feels like this level must be taught how to see past.
-
People say "well we fixed it" which is like saying it's fine to cut food stamps now that nobody starves anymore
-
I think it's less that and more that people aren't taught how to be critical and how to inform themselves/breach their assumptions?
-
People get away with claiming to be scientific.
-
The biggest problems are well aware of how to think critically and think the liberals are the anti intellectuals.
-
fwiw I think we're making progress on getting broader consensus on the problem, which is why the manifesto is frustrating.
